Ex-Service Men To Reenlist In Last Grade Held
Information from the Army Recruiting Office states that ex service men honorably discharged on May 12 1945 or later are eligible to reenlist in the last grade held before discharge for a 3 year term under War Department Pamphlet 12 16. Officers warrant officers and flight officers not authorized for first grade enlistment are sent to the Commanding General Major Forces or Chief of Technical Administrative Services. ground force applicants go to the Army Area Commander for approval.

Fire Destroys Room in Vaucluse Farm House
A blaze originated in a room of the north portion of a large tenant house on the Indian Spring farm owned by Dr. E B Powers at Vaucluse gutted the building. Loss estimated well over 5000 dollars as furniture burned. Firefighters from Middle town Stephens City and Strasburg plus a spray rig battled the flames. Water shortages forced crews to Stickley Springs for supplies and the fire reignited after an initial containment.
