President Truman tells Congress the United Nations prevented a major war with Russia and that advocating for U S action alone risks World War III. He warns bipartisan attacks hinder unity and emphasizes shared restraint amid Cold War tensions.
The community plans a Bicentennial holiday with a baseball game between the Winchester White Sox and Clarke County at Rouss Park at 3 p.m. A small admission fee will be charged, followed by free ice cream at 10 a.m. and a free fire fighting demonstration, highlighting a day of public activities and celebrations.
