Court lowers damages in Glaize vs Cather case to 200
Judge Williams overruled the motion for a new trial and entered judgment against Fred L. Glaize for 200 dollars in favor of Thomas D. Cather. Cather had originally been awarded 262.50 for damages after Glaize moved a sawmill engine. Cather agreed to accept 200, citing fair value. The engine, bought from Himelricht of Star Tannery, had been in Cather’s possession for six years, a factor the court deemed prima facie evidence of ownership.
