Byrd Flight Echoes Wilson Era With Flag Return
Transatlantic aviators Byrd and Acosta drew Paris crowds and French honors as Byrd presented a Betsy Ross flag to President Doumergue. The flag will be consecrated at Lafayette tomb then go to Independence Hall. Byrd and Acosta were treated for injuries after a water landing, and Mrs White suffered eye injuries as crowds surged.
