Estimates show $200000 for piping street work plus a $7500 annual gas inspector. Mount Vernon Jacob's Staff surveyor's tripod sale note
An inventory item called Jacob's Staff was a surveyor's tripod made of oak with brass fittings and two part legs joined by brass screws for horse travel. It may have been used by George Washington in surveying the Shenandoah valley and is now at the New York State Public Library in Albany. The last Washington owner was Col.
