Weather observers note January 1932 was unusually warm with dandelions and forsythia blooming early. At Winchester Research Laboratory, mean hourly temperature averaged 44.82 degrees in early January 1932, 2.1 degrees above this year, suggesting apples may rest longer despite warm spells.
Mr Winchester notes a friend arrived with yellow forsythia on Saturday. Church displays used large baskets of blooms yesterday. A cautious forecaster warned of possible rain and snow. Frederick County farmers will welcome H. L. Dunton of Virginia Polytechnic Institute as he visits Tuesday to Friday to assist with soil analysis work. On Wednesday at 7 30 p m he will speak at Middletown High School Agricultural Building outlining Virginia Experiment Station studies and recommendations based on soil samples.

A major blaze at the deluxe Riverview Apartments in Cincinnati prompted a general alarm. The fire, confined to the basement, burned out several apartments in the hilltop building. No injuries reported. The scene was brought under control about an hour after ignition.
