60 Mile Gale Follows Northwest Wind But Drops Temps

A 60 mile per hour gale from the northwest swept through the county last midnight with temperatures plunging from 42 degrees to 7 below zero at the Winchester Research Laboratory by 2 am. Readings showed a 19 degree fall in eight hours and pipes froze in John Kerr School forcing closures. Buses Held As Blizzard Delays Reach West Virginia

Blizzards in West Virginia and Pennsylvania disrupted rail and bus service. Wetzel Removed To Shenandoah County Prison

Jack Wetzel was moved to Shenandoah county jail in Woodstock yesterday afternoon. He remains under medical care while facing charges of resisting arrest and attempting to shoot an officer. A hearing may be delayed a week or ten days as investigators probe jurisdiction and facts. Wetzel was arrested at Cedar Creek Valley after threatening officers. Sheriff Gochenour fired, injuring Wetzel, who was taken to Memorial Hospital.
