Fenton Ewell a longtime Winchester resident died Thursday January 17 in Greene County Virginia where he had lived for several years. The funeral was held the next day and his body was laid to rest in the family graveyard. He was a member of a prominent Virginia family and remained unmarried living with his aunt at 138 North Washington Street.
The music club postponed its gathering because of a hospital benefit event. Details on rescheduling were not provided.

The grand jury in the Corporation Court returned a not a true bill against Floyd Brewer in the death of Vincent R. Tharp after he testified himself. The accident on Main Street extended occurred when Tharp darted into Brewer's path and the driver claimed a moderate speed. Tharp, son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Tharp, died at the hospital within an hour.
A Winchester benefit event at the Empire Theatre will donate all gross proceeds to the hospital. A 9 o clock special program features Dr Glass and others with Mrs Frank Reynolds as soloist, Georgia Conrad dancing, and Madeline Whitlock on piano. Proceeds from 7 and 9:30 film showings include 10 cent children 15 cent balcony 25 cent orchestra tickets.
Bear traders in the stock market opened aggressive attacks on automotive issues in early dealings today and uncovered several stop loss orders. Chemical, cane and steel shares fell under selling pressure while persistent buying of Lehigh Valley and Corn Products steadied the market. Call money opened at 4 percent.
