Truckload of Chickens Crashes on Rt 50 West
Herbert Elvin Chandler 54 of Strasburg is in Winchester Memorial Hospital ICU with multiple fractures and shock after his tractor truck loaded with chickens hit an embankment at Rt 259 and Rt 50. The wreck trapped him for about two hours. about half the live chickens were killed and $7,000 in damage was reported. An earlier Rt 50 West collision killed a horse owned by Earl Smith on Mt Falls Route. Ralph Kelchner’s car sustained about $400 damage.
