Roanoke Va Jan 16 two youths a soldier and a companion died when their motorcycle left U S Route 460 and struck a telephone pole. Julius Emerson Kelly 19 Roanoke County the driver and Ralph Dee Cole 22 Stallings W Va the passenger were killed instantly. Kelly had just been honorably discharged from the Army. A suicide note found on Kelly said he would end his life to spare his mother loss due to his fault and mentioned sending money and an insurance policy to aid her. The coroner said high speed and inexperience in the dark likely contributed to the crash.
