Murder suicide blamed in Gate City couple deaths
In Gate City Virginia on January 14 two retired Scott County teachers H L Clendening 58 and his wife Margaret B Clendening 57 were found dead in their home in the Natural Tunnels area. Coroner Dr W L Griggs Jr ruled murder death by own action two shots fired from a .38 caliber pistol found at the wife s feet. Daughter in law Morris Clendenin discovered the locked house Sunday afternoon.
