Winchester approves three housing ordinances to join city code
The Winchester City Council passed three housing ordinances to revise the BOCA Fire Prevention Code health and sanitation chapter and residential building standards with a unanimous vote. Two councilmen were absent from the meeting. The Public Improvements Committee must appoint a five member building code board of appeals. The council authorized a $280 000 downtown traffic signal system with Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation. The city share is 5000 with an engineer salary likely in next year’s budget. An injunction against the federal government was denied in a suit joined by the council and school board costing 1000.
