Passengers Escape Uninjured When Airliner Burns
National Airlines passenger plane crashed on takeoff at Pinellas County International Airport in St. Petersburg Florida. Ten passengers escaped before flames enveloped the two engine Lockheed L-188 or L-10 aircraft bound for Miami with stops via Sarasota Fort Myers and Palm Beach. Captain Marshal Hope of Jacksonville piloted the flight and crew were commended for evacuating passengers before fire.

3 Year Old Still Unconscious After Running Into Car
A 3 year old boy named Roger Wallace ran from between two parked cars into the side of a moving 1947 Studebaker on Highland Ave. He suffered a head injury and remained unconscious in Memorial Hospital in fair condition. The accident, Winchester's first traffic injury of 1955, involved driver Roster Elwood Bennett of Silver Spring MD who did not see the child. no charges were filed.
