Captain Edwin H. Diffenderfer, longtime Winchester contractor and former head of the Union Fire Company, died at Memorial Hospital in his ninety first year. Born August 2, 1843, he spent his life in Winchester, shaped by a family of builders, and remained active in public affairs and local culture. He is survived by memories of his work and community leadership. his wife Katherine and son Harold predeceased him.
