Watson Ave Man Held in Shooting
Russell Harmon 73 of Watson Ave was arrested by Winchester police and charged with felonious shooting after firing three shots near his home, wounding 17 year old neighbor Eric Roberts in the hand. Police say Harmon barricaded himself with a pistol a shotgun and rifle, but was later taken into custody after a snowbound pursuit. Bond set at 25000 dollars.

Winchester Rescue Squad logs 2282 calls in 1970
The Winchester Volunteer Rescue Squad reports 2,282 emergency calls in 1970, down from 2,577 in 1969. New Year’s Eve was the busiest night. From 6 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday the squad handled 16 calls, all for home illnesses or stranded motorists, with no accidents during the snowstorm.
