Winchester banks join Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
Four Winchester banks announce their FDIC membership effective January 1 1934 with deposits up to 2500 dollars fully insured. The notice highlights the FDIC fund of 500 million dollars funded by the U S Treasury the twelve Federal Reserve Banks and member banks. It notes 96 percent depositor protection and praises the banks for reopening after the March banking holiday and weathering the era’s low mood.
