Hagerstown Triumphs Over Hancock In County Final

In Handley High School gymnasium over 750 fans watched Hagerstown defeat Hancock 44 to 24 to claim Washington County basketball honors. The teams were tied at halftime before Hagerstown pulled away in the second half securing the county title and the right to represent Maryland at state level.

Albemarle Pippins Rally to 11 04 in Liverpool Auction

A few barrels of Albemarle Pippins rose from 10.80 to 11.04 per barrel at the weekly Liverpool apple sale. Cargoes on steamers Ninian Regina and Caronia were described as very variable with York Imperials, Ben Davis and Ganos also quoted. Shipments from New York to British ports for the week ending February 25 totaled 7,970 barrels and 16,541 boxes.

A large congregation attended the Presbyterian Church for special services with a 30 voice choir. The Rev. Dr. F. T. McFaden preached on faith as the condition of salvation and motive for living. Neighbors Fight Over Line Fence Draws Sheriff

Sheriff Pannett rushed from home after a morning call about two residents near White Hall in the county fighting. The melee ended without serious injuries. Death of Railroad Conductor J William DeJarnette

J William DeJarnette 47 died Monday in City Hospital Martinsburg West Virginia from internal hemorrhage likely linked to injuries as a railroad conductor. He had worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and operated a Martinsburg grocery store. He resided with Mrs. Charles Miller after moving from Shepandoah Junction five years ago. He belonged to Patriotic Order Sons of America Odd Fellows and Brotherhood of Railway Conductors. His brothers Harry and Howard DeJarnette attend his funeral near Middletown.
