Matthew Page Andrews born July 15 1879 at Fruit Hill near Shepherdstown West Virginia and son of Matthew Page and Anne Andrews. He taught in Shenandoah Valley Academy and played baseball to fund research. He authored The Soul of a Nation The Pounding of Virginia and The Projection of New England and hoped to write a definitive history of Virginia. He never married and died suddenly in Baltimore June 20 1947.

A school bus carrying 32 children collided with a freight train at Sharp's siding in Monticello Maine. Three children were killed and at least nine injured. driver Wel don Parent 32 of Monticello was shaken but unhurt. Thieves Steal Safe And Savings Bonds
In Alexandria last night thieves took a 300 pound safe from a basement after a dining room window was found open. The safe contained about $13 000 in savings bonds and $200 in cash. Inspector Hawes said about $4 000 of the bonds belonged to a Washington restaurant operator who had left them with the Conrads due to unavailable bank safety boxes.

Fire yesterday afternoon razed a frame house on the Holmes Car pet farm four miles east of Winchester off Senseny Rd. Wind freezing weather and lack of water hampered efforts.
