REDLANDS CALIF FEB 27 Officers studied a possible clue to the Tacoma kidnap slaying of 10 year old Charles Mattson. Dan Early 42 of Los Angeles told of meeting a man in Seattle January 6 who had a young boy in his car and spoke of kidnapping. Early died after a fall in the Redlands jail.

Man Faces Abduction Charge After Double Teen Wedding

Van Henry Plass 26 was arraigned in City Court in Poughkeepsie on an abduction charge tied to a double wedding involving two brides in their teens. Widow In Condition To Tell Story In Inquest

In Banning California the inquest into film writer Carl Rayburn's death proceeded as his widow Mrs. Humphrey Pearson remained hospitalized and incoherent. Sheriff Rayburn and Undersheriff Steve Lynch indicated Pearson was likely shot accidentally during a struggle over a .38 caliber revolver after a drinking night. Two bullets were fired with one striking the chest and the other the ceiling while a Riverside hospital treats Mrs. Pearson.
