Albert N. Lawyer, 49, of Clarke county, died at his home four miles west of Berryville from hemorrhage following influenza. He had been ill recently but felt better, then died on his front porch. Funeral services Sunday at 3 p.m. at Berryville's Methodist Episcopal Church, with ministers and local relatives mentioned.

Covington, February 25. Four teen buildings including the 40 room Carlsbad Hotel in Dry Ridge 4 miles southwest of Covington were wiped by fire in the business district early today. Loss estimated at 175 000 or more. About three fourths of the town destroyed. Other buildings affected include Farmers Bank postoffice a movie theatre undertaker shop restaurant confectionery groceries and six private residences.
Beverley Wright was in a car crash near Falls Church Virginia while returning to Washington to spend the week with friends. He spent last night at Georgetown University Hospital and remained under care at noon today. His aunt Mrs J B Beverley Sr and mother Mrs Joseph Wright were with him. J Gray Beverley and A S Henkel rushed to Washington to be with him over the weekend.
Chicago report details a double tragedy as Mrs Nettie Rendall 43 and her 18 month old child died from fumes in a fashionable north side apartment hotel. John Rich the hotel manager killed himself in his room after learning of the pair's deaths. Liquid cyanide fumigation had been used earlier on an empty apartment.
The Christian Church announces a cake sale to be held Saturday morning February 26 at Anderson's Meat Market starting at 10 o'clock. Admx. Minnie Slonaker, widow of Arthur Slonaker, deceased, notes the change of sale date from February 28 due to bad roads.

Maryland friends today proposed to President Coolidge the name of John Garrett of Baltimore for ambassador to Turkey. Garrett has had a long diplomatic career.
Isaiah Nichols formerly of Maddgon county was arrested Wednesday while attempting to cash a forged 32 fifty check at the Farmers and Merchants Bank. He was committed to jail by Magistrate Weems for action of the grand jury of Corporation Court and could not furnish bond for appearance. Jos Washington, colored, fined $15 in police court for assault.
Camden, N J Feb 26 David Baird former United States senator and Republican political leader of southern New Jersey died in his home early today at age 88 after several weeks of illness.
Democratic voter notice from Wright announces candidacy for the 26th Senatorial District in Virginia subject to the Democratic primary. He pledges to serve efficiently and asks for party support.
