Five Fires Reported Here In Day's Time
Grim fires during a freezing night in Winchester caused about six thousand five hundred dollars in damage. Two homes and outbuildings burned as firefighters battled five alarms from 8 p.m. to noon. Major blazes struck Virginia Woolen Mills dryer room and the Fair Play Store smoke house, with smaller outbreaks at Bailey and Hotel Jack. Grimes fire destroyed two residences and outbuildings, with extensive loss of furniture and supplies. Continued on page five.
