William Rutherford longtime Clarke County farmer and civic leader died at 8 45 PM aged 81. He was a Democrat active in state affairs and served in the Fifty second Virginia Cavalry. He leaves three daughters, six sons, three brothers and a sister, with funeral services at 10 AM Saturday at Kidwell Wood Chapel, interment at Hebrod Cemetery.
A mass meeting of all citizens of Winchester and Frederick County is set for February 24 at 2 p.m. at the Court House to discuss the State bond issue and the gasoline tax for roads. Invited speakers include Senators Keezerl Byrd Richards and Dabney, with the event opening for discussion. attendees urged to participate.

Decatur Osburn, prominent Clarke county farmer and former Confederate soldier, died after a week of illness. Funeral at Glenwood farm near Berryville with interment at Katoctin Baptist Church in Loudoun. Osburn served in Company A Virginia Regiment, fought at Manassas and Seven Pines, took part in Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg, and spent years as a prisoner at Fort Delaware. He was born November 1 1840 and died at eighty three. Survived by three sons Mason and Richard T. Osburn and Decatur Osburn Jr. plus daughters Alverda Osburn and Mrs. Castleman. second wife Vienna Osburn preceded him.
The J. A. Coburn's Minstrels delivered a finished entertaining night on the Empire stage with an outstanding vocal octette led by Edward C. Clifford. Dan Holt led a strong cast of skilled dancers and comedians in a lively program that drew a good crowd and promises packed houses in future dates. Mrs Mary A Henry widow of Alfred H Henry died this morning at her son's home 728 South Main Street after a short illness. A Royal Virginia native, she was 77 and long active in Street Methodist Episcopal South. Survived by son Charles B Henry two sisters and two nephews.
