Dedicating NCR Baptist Church on Sunday February 26
The new First Baptist Church at Washington and Piccadilly Streets will be completed by midweek at an estimated $65,000 cost excluding furniture and organ. Dedicatory services on February 26 will feature speakers from Rev. Dr. Skinner to Rev. Dr. Jackson and others with the Winchester Ministerial Union in charge of the afternoon program. A Week of Music follows starting Monday with nightly programs and ticket sales. the church choir funds the new pipe organ through this effort.

Mrs. Margaret Heist Baker died yesterday in Washington D C. Her remains will be brought to Winchester on the Baltimore and Ohio line and interred at Mount Hebron Cemetery after services. She is survived by two children and a brother, with a step family in Frederick county. Born November 30 1842 she lived in Winchester and Opequon before moving to Washington.

Fred Sloat Dies in Sawmill Boiler Explosion
Fred Sloat age 23 was killed instantly at his father’s saw mill near Howelsville when a boiler exploded while he stood by the engine being repaired. His father and brother were knocked down but unharmed. He was the youngest son of Charles Sloat and survived by eleven siblings. Funeral services were held at the parental home with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Sloat was a second cousin of John I. Sloat of the Winchester bank.

Eight year old hit by car in Cameron Cecil street crash
Charles McMillan, eight, twin son of Mr and Mrs William McMillan, is in critical condition at Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car driven by Forrest Forney at the Cameron and Cecil streets intersection.
