Fire in Montreal Apartment Kills Eleven

Infant Hurled From Hotel Window in Midtown Tragedy
In New York a 22-year-old woman Irene Morgan of Garfield New Jersey hurled her newborn boy from a seventh floor window at the Hotel Capitol to hide the birth from her husband. The infant was found dead on a midtown street. Morgan, said to be in poor condition, told police the father is not her husband. The husband, Robert, 24, recently discharged from the Army, did not know of the pregnancy. The incident followed her sending him out for sandwiches shortly before the fall. A passerby discovered the infant. A doctor’s call for an ambulance followed the body’s discovery and led to the hotel room.
