Garage Fire Destroys Jolliffe & Sewell Buildings at Boyce
A blaze discovered at 9 30 a m destroyed the Jolliffe and Sewell garage and an adjoining storehouse dwelling in Boyce Virginia causing about 3000 in losses. Insurance partly covers the garage building owned by A L Glasscock. A bucket brigade and local citizens fought the fire saving neighbor properties and avoiding explosion of a 100 gallon gasoline tank.

The funeral for Nelson Ashton who died yesterday at his Highland Avenue home after pleurisy will be at 1 PM Wednesday at the Presbyterian Mission Church with Rev. Dr. J Lacy officiating. Burial follows at Mount Vernon Cemetery. Survived by four brothers and three sisters, Ashton was unmarried and a member of Tuscarora Tribe of Red Men. Shawnee Tribe No 2 of Winchester will lead the burial.

Sanford Wins Metropolitan Gold Medal for Insurance Lead
Mr. W. H. Sanford of this city received a gold medal from Mr. C. G. Trisslery district superintendent of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for writing the largest amount of insurance in the district during the past month. The district covers parts of Virginia West Virginia Maryland and Pennsylvania with 24 agents. The medal was presented at a Farmers and Merchants National Bank building office meeting attended by Mr. Trisslery and Mr. W. O. Hawkins of New York and local agents. Banks Found Guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter
Shortly before 4 o'clock the jury delivered a verdict of voluntary manslaughter against Banks. He was sentenced to five years in the state prison. The case began with arguments by Commonwealth's Attorney T Russell Cather and defense attorney Robert Walker of Edinburg, assisting Harry R. Kern. Kern was unable to speak due to a severe throat ailment.
