The Virginia House of Delegates voted to create a five member committee to investigate the State Department of Public Welfare focusing on inspections. The probe, authorized by 46 of 100 members, must report 30 days before the next regular session.
Violent winds across the state from the Ohio River to Virginia killed two sisters, Mrs. Alice Myers and Mrs. Ora Eppley, who died when their roof collapsed near Woodburn in Monongalia area. Shops damaged and debris reported as winds reached about 35 miles per hour.

Philip H. Cammer dies after a period of illness on February 1. He was son of the late John C. Cammer and Emily Cammer of Frederick, aged two years, and brother of J. Sidney Cammer of Fairmont West Virginia. Funeral details remain incomplete.
