Norfolk Senator charges half truths on county conditions

In Richmond on February 14 Senator Major M. Hillard of Norfolk County accused colleagues and press of misreporting law enforcement conditions. He criticized Delegate J. N. Garrett for political ambition and described the proposed Norfolk county investigation as born in politics. He noted jail renovations and said Navy restrictions were lifted last September. The assembly resumed work after a recess as school funding and tax issues moved forward with limited controversy remaining before adjournment.
