DES MOINES IA Feb 14 to all those weary of cold weather there apparently is no relief in sight. The chances are strong that the abnormally low temperatures of January will continue through February and possibly into March. Federal Meteorologist Charles D Reed has long studied such patterns and says extreme conditions persist for 60 days or longer with diminishing intensity. His surveys show Januarys very bitter tend to yield colder Februarys across Iowa and beyond. He notes a new meteorological law: greater abnormality means more certain sequences. The rule applies from the Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes and even Bermuda and Manila. A hot June predicts a hot July in the region nearly 100 percent of the time. (Continued on page six.)
