Unusual Sheriff Sale Draws Crowd In Elkton
At the Sol J. Hensley farm near Elkton a sheriff sale of farm machinery and livestock drew about 250 people. No bidders offered more than Ashby Hensley, son of Loi J, who bought the property for 256.75, proceedings to satisfy a 1590 debt. Hensley plans a March 25 sale of 3500 acres to meet obligations and says he aims to be debt free thereafter. He hosted a large dinner for 100 to 125 friends after the sale, praising the meal as the best in Rockingham County.
