Albert W. Loring 59 of 422 Mosby Street died this morning in Winchester Memorial Hospital. Born July 20 1916 in Summerville Massachusetts he was son of Ernest and Martha Hale Loring. He married Charlotte Booth July 24 1939 in Washington D C and was VP of Shenandoah Gas and Martinsburg Gas. He was WWI veteran and active in Rotary Cancer Society and other groups. Surviving: widow daughter Anne Eiler of Cinnaminson New Jersey and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements incomplete. The body is at Jones Funeral Home.

The Virginia House General Laws Committee approved Del. Raymond R. Guest Jr.'s pari mutuel bill with amendments including a statewide referendum set for the November general election. The measure imposes stiffer penalties, bans exotic racing, limits tracks to two, and creates a Virginia breeders fund while private track ownership is allowed. The Senate version proposes a Virginia Racing Authority and a private or state ownership choice, with a floor debate possible Monday.
