Public Hearings End as Case Closes and Crashes Reported
A Winchester man and a Berryville man were injured in two separate weekend crashes in West Virginia and Clarke County with property damage over 3500 dollars. A Strasburg couple and a Wardensville girl were treated after another mishap with damage details not learned. Ray Rudolph 29 of Winchester suffered a scalp laceration in Ridgeway West Virginia while passenger in a 1951 Nash driven by Douglas Scruggs 30 of Winchester Route 3. Scruggs said a car turned in front of him. Rudolph was treated and released at Memorial Hospital. Thomas Pierce Route 2 Berryville was hospitalized after a crash on State Route 658 near Stone Bridge in Clarke County. he suffered left shoulder injury and possible rib fractures. LaFollette of Winchester, driving a 3 car convertible, was northbound when another car forced him off the road, the Buick hit a tree. Damage to LaFollette’s car was reported. Father Loses Race Against Death in Lancaster Tragedy

Two public hearings are set in Berryville tonight at 7 30 p m. Norfolk police intensified their manhunt for a young cab bandit with an itchy trigger finger who wounded two detectives. A dirty felt hat is the best clue yet, and the suspect is linked to the robbery of fourteen cab drivers over two months. Detectives Andrews and Beachum were wounded after confronting the suspect Saturday night. both officers fired back but could not pursue. A Yellow Cab Co. money purse was found at the scene. Andrews remains hospitalized in guarded condition. Beachum has been released.
