The Macon dirigible crashed off Point Sur California after a loss of No. 1 gas cell and control failure. Commander Wiley described a rapid descent from 4000 feet to 3000 feet as outer covering and gas cells were damaged. Five crew were lost with 81 saved and rescuers aided by nearby ships.
Richmond parents report Kerwin Smith a 17 year old Shenandoah Valley Academy cadet missing since February 4 after leaving the study hall. Authorities and the family have conducted an intensive search across Virginia and nearby states with a lead toward Roanoke and a possible plan to hitchhike to Wyoming. He is described as about six feet tall, popular with students and staff, and a center on the basketball team.
The Winchester Park Association seeks one dollar yearly members to fund children’s equipment and park improvements. Officers claim every cent goes to the kids, not profit, and the community’s public spirit backs a project seen as beneficial to keeping children off the streets.

Leslie Herbert of Lynchburg faced Police Court over a theft case involving a solder pot two pounds of solder charcoal copper and a sand tray from J Frank Helsley. Witnesses testified the pair aided plumbing repairs at a local restaurant and that Herbert left with the items in a black bag. He claimed reimbursement plans with Helsley and a helper explained his silence about the pot's location.

Richmond Feb 12 Dr Lyon G Tyler son of President John Tyler died at his home The Lyons Den in Charles City County Va at 7 40 PM from pneumonia He was 82 and had been ill nearly a month with influenza developing into virulent pneumonia after a period of noncritical illness
