County supervisors discuss adding Route 621 Merrimans Lane to the state system and drawing up an anti rabies ordinance. J J Pickeral urges fair tax assessments while a proposal to have the commonwealth attorney draft rabies rules is approved 2 to 2 with the chair breaking the tie.

A grenade exploded in front of the home of a U S Air Force captain in Saigon. The blast damaged the fence and windows but caused no injuries. U S sources said the attack was part of a Communist guerrilla campaign against Americans in Saigon.
Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies ordered a public inquiry into the Voyager disaster after a collision with the Melbourne off Jervis Bay. Ninety missing crew included nine officers. 257 rescued. The Melbourne continued to Sydney with minor damage as radar aided ships.
