King George in a throne speech outlined postwar aims to safeguard world peace and ensure victory’s fruits. He urged a strong army, labor settlement, a health ministry, and reforms including land reclamation and simplified Commons procedures.

They were met at the station by church members and lodging with Mrs. Katie Miller on Fairmont Avenue until North Market Street is ready. Previously pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church West Philadelphia, his resignation was accepted with regret.

An official test at City Hall will be witnessed by Chief Warden Sibert and Martinsburg fire officials. The demonstrator aims to prove engine and truck performance as designed.
Baltimore dispatch says the steamship Eleanor carried 3,000 tons of gas shells from Edgewood arsenal to be dumped in the sea off the Virginia capes. Every crew member wore a gas mask as a precaution. The shells were intended for reuse against German forces.
The War Chest Society and the Home Service section of the Red Cross have left the front room of attorney T. R. Cather at 64 Rouss avenue and moved to the Chamber of Commerce building near the courthouse. Office hours remain the same and both telephones are on Cohline.

Lieut George Roasel, recently returned to duty at Winchester after a period of absence, has been promoted to captain in the United States Army. He is the brother of Major B. M. Roasel, principal of Shenandoah Valley Academy. He will return to Washington for further orders and treatment as needed.
A local obituary notes the death of a longtime resident who died yesterday after a five year illness. He moved from Alexandria Virginia years ago and was born in Mount Williams in this county. He is survived by two brothers, one at Mount Bondurant and another in Lynchburg, with services to be held at Mount Hebron Cemetery.
