Four people were killed and two injured in a head-on crash between an automobile and a tractor-trailer car carrier near Lumberton North Carolina about 3 45 am. Carrier driver William Creek of Norfolk had multiple injuries and was also hospitalized. State Patrol said the Mathews car crossed the center line on 0 8 301 seven miles south of town. The crash occurred at a point where the highway reduced from four lanes to two.
