Ford Pinto crash verdict awards record damages to teen

A California jury awarded Richard Grimshaw nearly 128 million dollars split into 125 million punitive and 2.84 million compensatory damages after a 1972 Pinto rear end crash on Interstate 15 near San Bernardino. Grimshaw underwent 52 operations and faces more, after flames from the faulty fuel tank maimed him at age 13. His passenger mother Li Gray died. her family received 665000 in compensatory damages. Ford faces appeals and says it will consult lawyers.
