U S troops halted 400 South Korean students attempting to march on Panmunjom amid anti talks protests over the Pueblo seizure. The clash near Freedom Bridge injured at least 24 students, nine seriously, as police and U S forces contained the demonstration.
A Canadian Pacific Airlines 707 ran off the runway at Vancouver International Airport in heavy fog and crashed into a Department of Transport office building. At least one person was killed, a CPA official said the casualty was likely a Transport employee. The plane struck small planes and a parked car, then caught fire as passengers and crew escaped via exits.
The Winchester Frederick County Chamber of Commerce marks its 50th anniversary tonight at 7 at the Washington Hotel. About 250 people are expected to attend with extra parking offered by Merchants National and hotel facilities available.

The assault near Khe Sanh could herald a broader northern offensive Westmoreland warned would be the war’s largest. The broader campaign has cooled in many areas after eight days, while Viet Cong remained active in Saigon and Hue. The enemy death toll reached 22,748 in eight days. allied casualties totaled 1,768, including 614 Americans. The attack began with artillery at dusk Tuesday and ground fighting two hours later. Nine tanks moved along Highway Nine, breaching minefields and barbed wire to reach the camp.
