Retired Episcopal Minister Dr W D Smith Dies at 81
The Rev William D Smith D D a former rector of Christ Episcopal Church in Clarke County and later retired from ministry died at his South Stewart Street home after a period of declining health He was 81 Born at Smithfield in Clarke County he helped found Wyckliffe Church which became Grace Episcopal in Berryville He studied at Virginia Theological Seminary and served as rector of Christ Church 1905 1919 He also served as a World War I chaplain and later led St Mark's Richmond and Christ Church Middlesex County He is survived by six children and two sisters Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 00 am from Christ Episcopal Church with interment in Green Hill Cemetery Berryville Pallbearers are listed and flowers respectfully declined.
