Orpheum Theatre Blast Causes Panic at Cimarron Premiere
At the Orpheum a blast during the Cimarron premiere caused panic injuring several. Among the seriously hurt were George Delk a 30 year old taxi driver Veto Vitullo 25 an actor and Betty Deter 12. Police and fire crews controlled the exit as film stars helped calm the crowd.

Two Ashland Girls Vanish After Church Outing
In Ashland Virginia on February 7 police and the mother of 14 year old Josephine Irby Mers joined in a search for her and 15 year old companion Gladys Tinsman who disappeared after church. The McPeters girl is described as a brunette with blue gray eyes and 104 pounds while the Tinsman girl weighs about 125 pounds with light hair. Both were last seen at the Blunt home around 810 PM Sunday and may have run away or left via hitchhike or auto on routes toward Richmond Washington or Charlottesville.

The Salvation Army opened a free soup kitchen at 15 West Boscawen Street serving beans, meat, bread, coffee and milk. Major James Mars says operations paused Sunday will resume Monday on the 11 am to 1:30 pm and 3:30 to 5:30 pm schedule. Sixty five meals were given yesterday to men women and children with 85 total fed today.

Fishermen Carried Out on Drift Ice Near Buffalo
At least 25 fishermen were swept from a drifting ice floe on Lake Erie near Buffalo as a northwest wind split a large ice section. Coast guard crews battled to reach men three miles offshore while the fragile floe threatened to break apart.
