On day two of the Steelworkers strike at Newport News Shipbuilding four union pickets including Local 8888 president Wayne Crosby were arrested for violating Virginia right to work law as about 150 to 200 pickets gathered outside the yards. Cars and carpools carried workers past gate entrances while officials reported mixed turnout figures. union and company tallies differed on how many workers crossed the lines.
