Fire destroys farm buildings and livestock near Winchester
A late night blaze south of Valley Pike devastated a farm owned by Mr Boone. Three horses and eight cows perished along with hay, grain, feed, and implements. A cow bought for 100 dollars yesterday died. one cow survived. Cause unknown. Neighbors aided but water shortages and the long mile to reach the scene hindered efforts. Loss estimated around 3500 dollars with 600 dollars insured. Hundreds watched the bright glow lighting the southwestern sky.
