An administration source says President Truman will urge Congress to approve about 73.5 billion dollars in new appropriations for next year. He notes total government outlay could hit around 75 to 80 billion with potential adjustments by Eisenhower.
Kenneth Charles Zirk 19 month old son of Mr and Mrs Kenneth B Zirk of Moorefield West Virginia died at Winchester Memorial Hospital at 7 45 pm yesterday from burns received at his home about 6 pm Sunday He reportedly backed into a pail of scalding water in the kitchen and was admitted to the hospital Sunday at 7 30 pm.

A Pennsylvania couple, William H. Hynd 60 and Mabel Hynd 56 of Erie, were seriously injured when their 1946 Ford struck a Winchester and Western Railroad train near Gainesboro on Route 522. Both were listed in fair condition after treatment at Memorial Hospital. The engineer said the car was in clear view as it approached the tracks. Damage was $700 to the car and $100 to the train.
Richmond Virginia announced a February draft quota of 870 men as part of a national call for 53,000. Local boards will receive quotas before January 15. Navy Captain Thomas W. White, state director, said some 19 year olds may be in the February group and the inductions likely will occur at about 25 percent per week.
