Grain Elevator Blast in Galveston Ruled Accidental
In Galveston Texas an elevator explosion left at least 15 dead and 22 injured. Fire officials said the blast was definitely accidental with two potential causes under study including a spark from a locomotive or a switch shorting. Rescue crews believed three workers were buried beneath debris near a derailed freight car at the Farmer's Export Co. facility. The fire hampered operations as smoldering remained atop the burned tower and rain reduced second explosion risk. Damages to the $26 million facility were not disclosed.
