PALM BEACH, Fla. December 28 Jacob Epstein a Baltimore merchant who started with 600 and built a multi million dollar business died yesterday in his sleep. He would have been 81 today. A native of Lithuania he came to the United States at 17. With 600 he founded the Baltimore Bargain House a wholesale concern later the American Wholesale Corporation and in 1929 allied with Butler Brothers of Chicago.

One Virginian was among 22 injured when heavy seas battered the U S S Portland en route from Europe to New York. The injured man is T-3 Shirley W. Holland, son of Mrs Myrtle Cene of 7310 Hampton Blvd Norfolk. Two men were dead and one missing.
