The Soviet Union reportedly offers broad economic help to participants at the African Asian conference in Cairo. A Soviet report says aid can take loans or grants and may include economists sent to or from Soviet Union. The document stresses no strings attached and opposes Western imperialism and US influence.
H W Butler Jr announces he will seek another term on the Common Council. He is the second of six members with terms expiring next August to indicate re election plans. He cites traffic and parking issues and asks citizens for support.
Three people were injured in multiple traffic crashes within 24 hours in Was area. Mrs. Florida Stotler, 39, suffered facial injuries and chipped teeth in a two vehicle crash in Winchester at 8 35 a m. She was treated at Memorial Hospital and released. An Ohio couple, the Lawsons, suffered injuries in a three car crash 12 miles north of Cross Junction on Rt 522. Vehicle damages included $200 to the truck and $500 to the car.

Winchester Memorial Hospital will implement an experimental visiting schedule for 90 days starting January. All patient areas except Obstetrics and Pediatrics will be open 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily with no visitor passes during the period. Obstetrics limits remain 3–4 p.m. and 7–8 p.m., Pediatrics 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. Relatives are urged to limit visits to ease patient care.

A Spanish Madrid to Barcelona express derailed today near a northeast city. Three people were killed and 30 injured, twelve in serious condition. Officials say a broken rail caused the crash as a sleeping car and a passenger car tumbled down a three foot embankment.
