Bhief Petty Officer Grenwell at the Navy recruiting station reports his cat solved a holiday mystery by eating scraps from a Christmas tree and remaining thriving. The cat began at the bottom, licked paws, then ate up until perched on hind feet, as Grenwell observed.
Washington December 26. Aliens who have not registered or been fingerprinted must do so today or face a $1000 fine and six months in prison. Post offices in major centers stay open until midnight tonight. Over 4.2 million registrations have been received. more than 3.6 million were expected.

Rev. R B Moore of Winchester visited the sick Friday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Robert Smith spent Sunday evening with Mr and Mrs Marion Marshall at Wadesville. Mrs Hardesty and daughter of West Virginia called on their cousins Mrs Tom Stewart and Mr John Hayslett on Thursday. Mrs Hardesty is widow of the late Rev Hardesty formerly of the Brucetown charge. Mr and Mrs Paul Triggs Martinsburg West Virginia spent Sunday afternoon with the latter's mother Mrs Wesley Bri. Mrs Harry Yeakley has been quite sick. Mrs Walter Gander and son from Alexandria were calling here day.
