The verdict carries a six month jail term and a two hundred dollar fine. The jury foreman was William L Dodson.

Posse Hunts Suspect in Deputy Slaying in Virginia Hills
A 25 man posse combed the hills around Slant Virginia seeking Charlie Duncan 64, elderly gunsmith, charged with murder in the shooting of Scott County Deputy Ira Milburn Skeens 51. Skeens died after three .38 caliber bullets struck him near a store in Wise County. Duncan, intoxicated, fled after the shooting and was later found not in his home as authorities closed in. Skeens had reportedly recently been arrested in Wise County for carrying concealed weapons.
