General Walton Walker Killed in Jeep Collision in Korea

Lt Gen Walton H Walker commander of U S Eighth Army was killed instantly in a head on crash between his Jeep and a Republic of Korea army truck near Beoul. His son Capt Sam Sims Walker 25 a combat officer in the U S 24th Division mourned as officers expressed shock. The body was sent to Tokyo after services at Seoul Municipal Airport.

City child burned by extension cord shock on Christmas Eve

Three year old Jimmie Grayson was rushed to the hospital after biting and pulling an extension cord from a light socket. His mother Mrs. Ernest Grayson of Payless Market rushed to help as his mouth and surrounding flesh burned. Doctors say recovery is possible though critical as Santa will not visit this year. The Grayson family plans Christmas for two daughters Mary Virginia and Elener.

Ralph Hengeveld Wins Christmas Home Lighting Contest

Ralph Hengeveld of 135 Latane Street is named 1950 Christmas Home Lighting Contest winner after last night’s judging. His doorway centerpiece features a framed Christmas card and illuminated Santa face with a simple, eye catching display. Second prize goes to L G Sjostrom of 209 Fairmont Avenue with Santa face, plastic candle props, and a tiny sleigh on the roof. Richard Brumback of 321 Kerr Street, last year’s first place winner, is mentioned in the account.
