Hickman continues to claim Cramer murdered a girl in Pendleton, reiterating his belief amid ongoing testimony and public interest. He maintains the accusation as legal proceedings unfold and presses for closure in the case.
The accused man emphatically denies reports that he wrote a girl to an accomplice and says he was considering surrender. A Baptist pastor held a prayer service for youth as the mother continues to believe in him.
William Edward Hickman, jailed in Pendleton, says he did not abandon his story that an accomplice, named Andrew Cramer, killed Marian Parker. He describes handing the girl to Cramer, receiving 1500 dollars, and delivering the torso to her father. Police guard remains tight as leads spread to Los Angeles Phoenix and Sacramento records.
Miss Mae Kuykendall of Romney West Virginia lost a suitcase containing valuable heirlooms on the Northwestern pike between Winchester and Romney while returning from Harrisonburg. The cadet’s suitcase was found and returned at Romney. Sloan Kuykendall, her father, will collect the items from finder G W Anderson and pay the offered reward.

Western Maryland will pay $325,000 for the road’s capital stock with $125,000 par value, the commission deeming the price fair given the short line’s earning potential.
Paris report says Countess Frederic de Janze formerly Miss Alice Silverthorne of Chicago was condemned to six months in prison for shooting Vincent De Trafford of a British titled family and wounding him. The sentence was suspended. The incident occurred March 28 and the countess also attempted suicide, claiming fear of abandonment by De Trafford.
The Winchester Gun Club will host a Saturday afternoon shooting match at the club grounds behind the city reservoir. Martin Cochran aged 37 and four other Kroger employees were burned when a 30 gallon gasoline tank ignited during removal at the company garage. Cochran and Albert Milburn were rushed to St Elizabeths Hospital, Milburn in extremely grave condition, while Cochran suffered burns to hands face and body and was expected to recover. Fire destroyed the garage and another truck. firemen extinguished the flames.
Italian airman Remato Donato broke the world altitude record by reaching 11,827 meters 38,792 feet in Turin officials announced. The prior record was 38,474 feet held by United States Lieut Carlton C Champion.
A letter to Mayor J. F. Ward from W. D. Tipton of Chesapeake Aircraft Company expresses sympathy for Phineas Stephens who was killed in Nelson county. Tipton recalls their close ties, praises Stephens energy and unselfish enthusiasm for the project, and hopes the work can be carried forward as a fitting memorial. Norfolk Va December 23 The mail carrier G W Smith out of Boykins was held up by two unidentified men this morning and robbed of registered mail valued at about 7009 dollars.
Richmond report notes Virginia apple packing improved this season with fewer complaints. Edwin Smith of the U S Department of Agriculture cites improvements in grading, barrel stenciling, and cooling using ice cars. Buenos Aires dealer reports handling about 30 000 barrels, praising packing and marking advances.
The Sunday school of Christ Episcopal Church will present a Christmas Eve pageant at 5 p.m. in the church, followed by gifts for the children around the Christmas tree in the parish house. Louis Stull was fined 25 dollars and costs in police court for illegal possession of a dog. A Boston terrier belonging to Clinton Athey followed Stull, who took the dog home and later sold it for five dollars. He claimed the dog was lost and unowned, but evidence showed he made no effort to locate the owner.
