Sudden Temperature Rise Causes Snow Slush and Crashes
A warm surge and rain melted last night's snow turning streets to slush. Highway crews cleared all main routes, with 34 degree readings at Winchester Research Laboratory. Four city accidents were reported, two investigated by State Police, plus skidding complaints countywide. On Route 11 a 1938 Nash driven by Russell Snyder tipped in a ditch with minor injuries to passenger George Kelly. A second crash on Route 50 involved a 1934 Ford stopped to talk when another vehicle collided.
